The new album

Simple Thoughts for a  Troubled Mind is the second album from  Nils Are Drønen’s band project Whatever Happens Don’t Be Yourself. The new album was spontaneously recorded over a few days in a crammed studio in Bergen Norway. The influential Norwegian reviewer Geir Rakvaag gave the album a very positive review. He also expressed his high hopes for the live experience of the band!

The music is written by Nils Are Drønen. The lineup is a fine mix of well known veterans and the new breed of musicians from the new jazz scene in Bergen,Norway Adding the master of noise, Lasse Marhaug, and the sensational voice of Nelly Moar to the brew, makes this record a unique experience for the listener.

The beautiful ballad “Let Me In” is a collaboration between father and daughter. The amazing mellow voice of Nelly makes that great impression that rising stars alway do. In the context of the album it contrasts heavier beasts like Midnight Gun. The album explores the world of melodic jazz, free jazz and more, offering both pleasure and pain.

The album is available on music services like Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music, YouTube and Tidal from May 7, 2021.
